Joseph: God's Stepdad

Watch the full teaching here

December 11, 2016  //  This is part one of a four-part series on the Characters of Christmas.  Joseph: we don’t know a lot about him. He was alive at least until Jesus was twelve and had other children with Mary; we assume that he passed away.  From the inferences made in scripture, Joseph was probably in his early 30s and Mary was probably in her mid-teens when he took the risk by going through with their marriage. Once again, God did things that weren’t approved by society. According to Jewish Law, Joseph could have ended the engagement or even had Mary stoned to death. Instead, he followed God’s command and risked his reputation.  It must have been nearly impossible to conceive the expectations for being the "stepdad of God".  Are you willing to put your reputation on the line to obey God? Matthew 1:18-25
